Description:

Perform daily care of live animal collection for the Department of Biology. Work will include cleaning rodent, reptile, amphibian, and invertebrate caging; feeding and handling animals; performing daily health and animal welfare checks. Flexible daily schedule with access to animal facility office space.

We are hiring two (2) technicians, with training starting in mid to late-April and job beginning on or shortly after April 26th.

Qualifications:

  • Must be available on a daily basis, including summers, weekends and occasional holidays.
  • Must be willing to perform dirty and often difficult work involving live animals, including: rodents and other small mammals; snakes, tortoises, and other reptiles; amphibians; tarantulas, roaches, and other invertebrates.
  • Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds (i.e., weight of animal feed bags and animal enclosures).
  • Must be able to work independently and be able to efficiently prioritize tasks.
  • Must be able to communicate promptly and professionally with supervisors and other employees.
  • Preference will be given to biology majors and members of the SUU Animal Ambassadors.
